We are situated in Brandeglio, a Medieval hill-top village in the Val di Lima, in the famous Garfagnana region. Nestling comfortably between the Italian Riviera and the Tuscan skiing mountains, this lesser known part of Tuscany displays more of the original Tuscan life from long before tourists invaded the central plains and beaches. The valleys are deep and dramatic, the hills are high with breathtaking views and the dense forests have deer, wild boar and porcupines. Rural Italian people are warm and welcoming and the Tuscan food and wine legendary.
 Brandeglio is a typical hilltop Tuscan village with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, villages and mountains, and yet is only a 15 minute drive from the famous old spa town of Bagni di Lucca. The church and houses are many hundreds of years old and the village has been awarded "Centro Storico" conservation area status, so no new building here!
Just outside the village, there is a new bar / cafe that serves delicious traditional Tuscan food and local wines, and has the most spectacular views of the mountains and the valley below from its garden. There are many dances, meals and events throughout the year and particularly in August for the Ferragosto celebrations.
We can provide occasional evening meals and packed lunches, but with some advance notice, please.
Coffee, tea, mineral water are available free of charge, also wine as we are not licenced to sell alcohol.
From Brandeglio, it's a very easy 30 km drive to the famous Medieval walled city of Lucca and only 45 km up to the ever-popular skiing resort of Abetone.
We have private car parking and even a locked garage for secure storage for motorbikes, bikes, ski equipment, car top-boxes and trailers.
Within an hour, you could be photographed holding up the leaning tower in Pisa, or sun-bathing on the wide golden sandy beaches at Viareggio. Drive another 30 minutes and you are in beautiful Renaissance Florence, with its culture, architecture and, of course, world famous shopping! These trips can be made by car, train or bus and we can even deliver and collect you from the railway station if necessary.
