We are situated in Brandeglio, a Medieval hill-top village in the Val di Lima, part of the famous Garfagnana region of Northern Tuscany. Nestling comfortably between the Italian Riviera and the Tuscan skiing mountains, this less well known part of Tuscany displays more of the original Tuscany from long before tourists invaded the central plains and beaches. Here, the valleys are deep and dramatic, the hills are steep with breathtaking views and the dense forests have deer, wild boar and porcupines. The Italian people are warm and welcoming and the Tuscan food and wine legendary.
 Brandeglio is a typical hilltop Tuscan village with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, villages and mountains, and yet is only a 15 minute drive from the famous old spa town of Bagni di Lucca. The church and most houses are many hundreds of years old and the village has been awarded "Centro Storico" conservation area status, so no new building here!
A bar at the edge of the village about 200 yards from the house serves delicious traditional Tuscan food and local wine, and has the most spectacular views of the mountains and the valley below from its garden.
From Brandeglio, it is an easy 30 km drive to the famous Medieval walled city of Lucca and 45 km to the popular skiing resort of Abetone. We have secure storage for ski equipment, bikes, car top-boxes and trailers.
Within an hour, you could be being photographed holding up the leaning tower in Pisa, or sun-bathing on the wide golden sandy beaches at Viareggio. Drive another 30 minutes and you can be in beautiful Renaissance Florence, with its culture, architecture and, of course, world famous shopping! These trips can be made by car, train or bus and we can even deliver and collect you from the railway station if necessary.
